Requests written to a manager or HR share a common failure mode: they explain the need at length but leave out the one or two specific details that let the reader actually approve it without a follow-up question. Here's what each of the common ones needs.
Leave Request and Sick Leave
A Leave Request needs exact dates, the number of days, and — if relevant — who's covering the work while you're out. A Sick Leave notice can stay brief by design, but should still state the expected return date so a manager isn't left guessing whether to reassign anything.
Work From Home Request
A Work From Home Request is approved faster when it states the specific duration (a day, a week, ongoing) and the reason in one clear sentence, rather than an open-ended request that puts the burden on the manager to ask clarifying questions.
Salary Advance Request
For a Salary Advance Request, the two details that matter are the exact amount and the proposed repayment plan (a lump deduction next cycle, or spread across a few months). Requests that name a number and a plan get processed faster than ones that just describe a financial need.
Transfer and Promotion Requests
A Transfer Request reads strongest when it names the specific location, team, or department, along with a brief, professional reason (relocation, career growth, family circumstances). A Promotion Request similarly benefits from naming the target role and pointing to specific accomplishments, rather than a general statement of being "ready for more responsibility."
Salary Revision Request and NOC Request
A Salary Revision Request is strongest with a specific figure or percentage in mind, anchored to tenure, market rate, or expanded responsibilities. An NOC Request (a No Objection Certificate, commonly needed for a visa application, a loan, or moonlighting approval) should state exactly what the NOC will be used for, since that's usually the first thing the issuing manager needs to know before approving it.
Every one of these is available in TeckForge's Letters category with the relevant fields already built in — dates, amounts, target roles — so filling in your specifics takes a couple of minutes rather than starting from a blank page.
