Most SEO advice repeats the same rule of thumb: keep your title tag around 50–60 characters and your meta description around 150–160. That's a reasonable approximation, but it's not actually how Google truncates results — it's measured in pixel width, which means a title full of wide capital letters truncates sooner than one full of narrow lowercase letters, even at the same character count.
Seeing the actual result before it's live
The gap between "I wrote a 58-character title" and "Google shows my title in full" is exactly where a pixel-aware preview earns its place — it catches the case where a technically-short title still gets cut off because of which specific letters it contains.
Descriptions get rewritten more often than titles
Google frequently pulls a different snippet than the meta description you wrote, especially for pages where the description doesn't closely match the query. Writing a description that closely mirrors the page's actual first paragraph, rather than a marketing-style summary, tends to survive this rewriting more often.
TeckForge's Google SERP Snippet Preview renders your title, URL and description in Google's actual result styling as you type, and the companion Title Tag Length Checker estimates the real pixel width of a title rather than just counting characters.
